Our Story

Irish seafood excellence, six generations strong

Atlantic Rose is more than just a fishing company; it’s a legacy of Irish fishing tradition that traces back six generations. Rooted in the rich history of Clogherhead and the Kirwan family, we harness the skills, knowledge, and intuition built over centuries to deliver the highest quality frozen prawns and white fish.

Fishing is our heart and our home

The Atlantic Rose journey began when, at the age of 12, Michael Kirwan Jr now owner of the Atlantic Rose, started accompanying his father, Michael Kirwan Snr, on fishing trips. By the age of 15 he had well and truly started his fishing career.

The business has has been the continuation of a legacy that goes back 6 generations and is the life blood of the family and the community they grew up in Clogherhead, Ireland.

Over the years, the Kirwan’s have owned various boats, now they have the “MVF Rose of Sharon”, Michael Kirwan fathers’ boat and “Atlantic Rose MVF” bought in 2006.

“Using your hunting head is essential in fishing. Sounders don’t detect where the prawns are, experience, historical knowledge, coupled with trial and error, and a deep-rooted instinct, guides a skilled fisherman to know where to cast the net.”
