Our Crew

Meet the crew of the Atlantic Rose

The Atlantic Rose MVF, and its skilled crew, fishes for prawns and white fish from Labadie Bank, Jones’ bank, and Porcupine Bank, off the coast of Ireland. Our crew is tough, focused, and determined – fishing deeper, catching stronger prawns with intense colour. Premium seafood for our discerning customers.

A deep-rooted instinct, guides our skilled crew to know where to cast the net

The Atlantic Rose crew ranges from 7 to 10 members, representing six different nationalities. They are hardworking, tough and committed to their work, typically spending six days at sea.

Due to the challenging nature of fishing, every one of the crew has an important role to play and is determined and adaptable to the changing ways of the oceans.

Where we fish

The Atlantic Rose MVF, leaves from the Port of Cork and typically goes for 6 days at sea , fishing for prawns and white fish. The main fishing grounds are Labadie Bank, Jones’ bank, and Porcupine Bank. These locations offer challenging yet rewarding fishing. The Atlantic Rose fishes deeper, catching stronger prawns, with more intense colours. The prawns from Porcupine are especially unique due to their intense colours, it’s worth the challenges and extra work to catch them.

Championing sustainable practices

We go beyond industry requirements to fish responsibly and ensure that our practices honour the ocean that has sustained our family for generations. We ensure minimal waste in our catch through careful handling by the crew and the use of nets with larger mesh size to reduce bi-catch, focusing our catch on premium larger sized prawns.

Sustainability to us extends beyond the sea we fish in, to looking after our people and community. We provide training and a commitment to our dedicated crew, we nurture our long-standing partnerships, and we value our customers who appreciate the dedication and hard work that goes into every catch.

TRUSTED AS SUSTAINABLY PRODUCED BY PEOPLE WHO CARE

We leave port early and then it’s non-stop, shooting the nets for the first haul around 5am

Every thing we do is to ensure the freshness and quality of our prawns. Our prawns are graded and then blast frozen on board as soon as they are hauled out of the water. After 6 days at sea fishing, the boat lands at the Port of Cork as dawn breaks. Our distribution partner, Kingfisher Freshs’ truck stands ready to receive our haul. The frozen prawns are carefully transferred from the deep freeze at the boat’s base directly into the truck. This swift and meticulous process ensures the prawns retain the same quality as when they were caught, ensuring they arrive in prime condition at the Wild Irish Seafood, and straight to our customers.
